Jeremie Frimpong has revealed why he keeps his number 30 shirt.

The 24-year-old joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window and retained the number he has had since his Celtic days.

Frimpong, who started his career at Manchester City, signed for Celtic in 2019 and quickly became a fan favorite.

He helped the team win a treble in his first season and became known for his catchphrase “Oh my days” and his quick pace.

However, after less than 18 months, he left Celtic for Leverkusen in an £11million move.

Frimpong explained on the AXA Player Portraits podcast why he has stuck with the number 30.

He said: “Obviously, my first professional football number was 30 at Celtic, so I just kept it.

“At Leverkusen I was 30, and obviously coming to Liverpool, I’m known as 30 and it was free, so I was like…”

During his time at Leverkusen, Frimpong became a Bundesliga champion with Xabi Alonso’s side.

He joined Liverpool after four-and-a-half years in Germany.
